FINALLY!

My burn has healed to the point that I can get to work again!  This has been a difficult time, because I didn’t connect that the reason that I wasn’t burning was because of the burn on my arm.  A great deal of the planning is done on my computer first, where I edit images and prep them for transfer to the wood.

My arm that holds the mouse rests RIGHT on top of my burn, and all the sliding back and forth was slightly painful, but mostly just annoying.  So working on my designs was annoying, and I didn’t register that it was the physical sensation.  Thank goodness!  Because it brings me so much joy to do the work, I just had no clue what was happening, and I thought maybe I was getting tired.

Apparently not.  BACK TO WORK!

So I’ve got a little Dr. Who box I’ve been working on…..this is for sale, so if you want it, comment.  I’m gonna guess this is going to go for about $85 when it’s done.   If no one speaks up, I’m just going to throw it up on Ebay and see what happens.

I’ll be lining the inside too.  Tardis Blue, of course.  And I’ll bye using blue dye on the front cover.  But I need to find the right lettering for the “POLICE CALL BOX” sign.  It’s got to look right or it’s just rubbish all around.

Front cover: TARDIS. Spine: "Time and Relative Dimension in Space, Adipose, Bad Wolf in graffitti, and some Gallifreyan at the top.

Gallifreyan is a bitch for woodburning, btw.  Because it’s all loops and circles and symmetry, the grain of the wood REALLY fights it.

Back cover: Daaaaalek!  I love the way he came out, don’t you?

Inside front cover: Preliminary burn of a Weeping Angel. I also have plans for a Cyberman and a member of The Silence as the bottom two images.

So that’s it for now.  So glad to be burning again!

How very exciting!

Some of my stuff on pinterest is beginning to be pinned in other areas, so that’s kind of exciting.  I’m not sure I’m doing it very well, I need to have some more commentary before I pin them, but whatever, you live you learn, and the Gods lead me where I need to go.

One person has found me via pinterest, and may be looking to commission a pentacle, which is lovely.  Ritual tools are the big dream.  Someone once told me that their definition of “Success” was to be respected by other people in their field.  My primary identifier is Pagan, so I’d just love for my ritual tools to be loved and respected by other Pagans.  Being respected for Art is nice, of course, but it’s not where my dream lies.

Speaking of which, the delay has been my burn.  I got a nasty burn on my arm, and it’s unfortunately in the place where EVERYONE IN THE WORLD rests their forearm when typing.  It slows me down, which sucks.  But that’s okay.  The burner has marked me, the heat and fire have marked me, and I will wear this like an honor.  And I will make sure the cat gets nowhere near the burner in the future.  🙂

There’s one piece I can’t show because it’s a surprise, but there’s a different piece I’m working on for Sekhmet.  We’ve cobbled together a bunch of different images, and so far, we’ve come up with this for the design.

Sekhmet. Still being edited.

We’ve taken arms from one place, eyes from another, a pose from a third, on and on…there’s about six or eight images combined here.  We’re still designing, but that’s where she’s at so far, and she’s going to be lovely.  It looks primitive, because the outline becomes the bare-bones outline for the burn for positioning and spacing.  Then I do the detail work once she’s been placed on the wood.  I really gotta find a good image for the staff.

Mowg out!
